What this forum is all about.
« on: March 30, 2009, 04:07:28 AM »
My goal for this forum is:

A place where people can discuss things that many have considered unusual, without fear of being ridiculed, abused, or insulted.

Where they can share their ideas and opinions, even if they are not shared by anyone else.

I don't want to control what you talk about, or even shape what you believe. As long as you can act with some level of manners, are not spamming, and are not breaking real world laws on this site, then you should be alright.

While this is not an adult themed site, it is purposely set to adult only registration. I think young eyes deserve a parent's guidance before delving into this type of material. So please parents, keep an eye on your kids. This site, is in no way, a babysitter.

There may be foul language in some of the reports, as there are in times of high stress and excitement. I don't like to censor things, so you might want to be careful if you have fragile eyes.

The ultimate goal for this forum could be, a place that many would consider a vast library of information. Where like minded, and open minded people, treat each other like good friends, who would be happy to meet in each other's living rooms, to discuss these type of things.

Optimistic? Yes, of course. Plausible? Who knows. All I know, is that this site doesn't have to go along with the current trend, of treating each other like anonymous garbage.

About me, my name is Louis Martin, I'm 32 years old. I have lived in Roswell, New Mexico for the last five years, and the Midwest before that. I've had a life long interest in learning about almost anything that seemed different or unusual.

I am the same person who has run the My UFO Blog (MyUFO.com), for nearly five years in one form or another. I had closed it down in March of 2009, after it somehow lost 90% of it's once normal traffic, and because of other issues as well. Then at the start of April, I checked the stats for the closed version of MyUFO.com, which were very startling to say the least. Because of this I did a little research, and it appears that many of the issues have gone away.

This forum was my attempt to start fresh, and hopefully have an even better web resource because of it. I'm not writing a book, or selling anything. Because of the recent changes with My UFO Blog, I've decided to run both, and have them be companion sites. Each having their strengths that can compliment each other.

You do not have to stick with only the UFO subject, and this forum can easily accommodate more categories as needed. As long as you don't tell people that your website is the only real place, or only official place to report things, it is fine to share your website. Keep in mind, I'll have to keep an eye out for posts that look like they were posted by spambots with massive amounts of links, that probably only go to medication, and other possibly illegal websites.

So after reading all of this, and you still want to be here, then welcome.

Attachments have an 8MB/file limit, put in place at the hosting company, unfortunately. Although there is plenty of space, to post many attachments.

http://myufo.com/?page_id=2396 is an upload box with a 2GB limit per file, it'll email me when there is an upload. Plus if you use the small form below it, to tell me about the upload, I can better proceed with handling the files. Making it easier to get up, documents, pictures, and streaming videos.

This is a very good idea since there is an active smear & coverup campaign that is going on around the world.

As of a couple days ago, I've started adding ads back to some of the websites. It's not something that I really wanted to do, but the sites really do need to be self sustaining. I'm not good at begging for donations, and people are more likely to check out ads than they are to donate, or so says the last several months of having no ads, and no donations.

The current hosting is reasonable now, unlike in the past, so it does not need to make much. Meaning I shouldn't have to put ads on every square inch of anything. Doing this has never paid me for my time, and I'm not counting on it to ever do so. I just want to be able to keep these sites going, if they are needed, for decades to come.

Before the end of the year, MegaClick is suppose to become available. They will allow me to approve ads before they go on any of the sites. Which is far better than what Google offers, currently. Hopefully I can curtail the offensive or insulting ads that plague UFOs and paranormal.
